Peer Review Policy

All submissions to New Jersey Journal of Public Health undergo editorial screening followed by peer review.

Upon submission, manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team to determine whether they fall within the journal’s scope and meet basic standards of scholarly quality. Manuscripts that pass this initial screening are sent for peer review.

The journal uses a single-blind peer review process, in which reviewers remain anonymous to authors.

Authors are asked to remove identifying information from manuscripts prior to submission to facilitate impartial evaluation.

Reviewers evaluate submissions based on criteria including relevance to public health in New Jersey, methodological rigor, clarity of analysis and argument, and contribution to public health scholarship or practice.

Based on reviewer feedback, the editorial team may render one of the following decisions: accept, accept with minor revisions, revise and resubmit, or reject.

The editorial team strives to provide authors with a decision within 6–8 weeks of submission whenever possible.

Scholars and practitioners interested in serving as peer reviewers are encouraged to contact the journal at: journal@njjph.org.

Ethical Standards

The New Jersey Journal of Public Health follows widely accepted standards for responsible scholarly publishing. Authors must disclose conflicts of interest and confirm that submitted work is original and not under consideration elsewhere. Research involving human subjects should indicate appropriate institutional review board (IRB) approval where applicable.
